What Are Invisible Braces?

Posted on August 8, 2024

Invisible braces, or clear aligners, are an esthetic alternative to traditional wire and bracket braces. They are used to correct crooked teeth and malocclusions (bad bites), including gaps, overbite, underbite, crowded teeth, and more.

The best invisible braces use advanced technology to create a 3D model of your teeth, which is then used to design and produce a custom series of aligners that will slowly shift your teeth into a more ideal alignment. Each aligner is worn for about two weeks before moving on to the next one in the series. Depending on your treatment plan, you may need to wear the aligners for up to 22 hours a day or 10 hours at night (if you choose a nighttime-only option).

Invisible Braces: The Benefits and Options for Discreet Orthodontics

There are many different brands of invisible braces, and each offers its own unique set of benefits and features. Some brands, like Invisalign, are better suited for more complex cases and offer additional features such as SmartTrack material. Other brands, like NewSmile and Candid, have shorter treatment times and are more affordable.

When choosing an invisible orthodontic treatment, it’s important to consider all of your options and consult with a dentist or orthodontist. The most important thing is to find a company that you can trust and work with closely throughout your treatment. Lastly, make sure that any at-home brand you choose works with your dental insurance provider and can help you get the most out of your healthcare dollars.
