SA20 Bowlers Break Records Again
The newest PSL 2026 crop of South African players have continued to impress in the SA20. In fact, the tournament has seen a number of players shatter auction records, with Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan becoming the highest wicket-taker in T20Is during his side’s tri-series match against hosts United Arab Emirates. The young bowler’s stunning performance saw him smash the R9 million record set by last season’s top bidders, Dewald Brevis and Aiden Markram, as Pretoria Capitals snatched up his services for a staggering R16.5 million.
Salt thrashed his way to a second T20I century in as many innings, breaking Liam Livingstone’s record of 42 balls to reach three figures. He shared an unbroken opening stand with Buttler of 141 from 60 balls as the pair helped England to a thumping 304/2, which was the highest total by a Test playing nation against an ICC full member country.
In reply, UAE were reduced to 76-1 in the ninth over as Rashid claimed his third wicket of the innings to break the dangerous-looking partnership between captain Muhammad Waseem and Ethan D’Souza. His short-of-a-length delivery snared the batsman lbw for 12 to leave the visitors reeling at 157-4.
Keshav Maharaj, who also broke the record for the most wickets in a T20 innings in Pakistan this week, has become one of the most sought-after bowlers in SA20 cricket as he continues to deliver impressive numbers with his accurate left-arm spin. Ethan Bosch, another left-arm spinner for the Capitals, is also growing in stature as he combines pace and an improving range of slower balls.
